South Africa fast bowler Ottneil Baartman has been ruled out of the third ODI against Pakistan, scheduled to take place at Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday, December 22. Baartman, who featured in the first ODI and took two wickets, suffered a right knee injury. He experienced discomfort in his run-up during warm-ups for the second match and was subsequently left out of the playing XI.
Baartman will return home to undergo further medical assessments. His absence follows the ruling out of left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, who is sidelined with a left abductor strain. To replace Baartman in the squad, all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been called up.
Looking ahead, Baartman’s next assignment will be with the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SAT20, as the two-time champions prepare for the upcoming tournament.
Pakistan has already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series, following dominant victories in Cape Town and Paarl.
