Clinical Bangladesh Seal T20I Series Victory Over West Indies with Dominant Bowling Display
A masterclass with the ball helped Bangladesh seal a 27-run win over the West Indies in the second T20I, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Defending a modest total of 130, Bangladesh's bowlers, excluding Mehidy Hasan Miraz, delivered a collective effort, bowling out the hosts for just 102.
The West Indies' top order faltered once again, as they were reduced to a disastrous 42 for 6, continuing a worrying trend of early collapses in the series. In the first T20I, they were left reeling at 62 for 7.
The chase started brightly for the West Indies, with Johnson Charles blasting a six and a four off Mahedi Hasan. However, a brilliant bowling change by Bangladesh saw Taskin Ahmed remove both Brandon King and Andre Fletcher in the same over, while Charles fell to Mahedi in the next. The off-spinner then bowled a wicket-maiden, dismissing Nicholas Pooran, leaving the hosts in deep trouble.
Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd failed to stage a recovery, with Powell falling to a leading edge and Shepherd dismissed by a sharp pull shot caught at slip. Roston Chase and Akeal Hosein tried to steady the ship with a 47-run partnership, but just as the West Indies looked to regroup, Rishad Hossain delivered the knockout blow, dismissing Chase and Gudakesh Motie off consecutive deliveries. Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan wrapped up the final two wickets to hand Bangladesh the series victory.
Earlier, Bangladesh's batting woes continued as Litton Das struggled for form, stumped off Akeal Hosein. The spin duo of Roston Chase and Akeal restricted Bangladesh, dismissing Tanzid Hasan and Mehidy Hasan in quick succession. Despite the collapse, Shamim Hossain's 35* from just 17 balls, including two sixes and two fours, lifted the visitors to 129 for 7, providing enough of a target for their bowlers to defend.
