Bess Heath Returns to Women's Ashes Squad After Fitness Recovery

Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath has made a strong comeback to England's Women's Ashes squad after recovering from a fractured thumb that sidelined her during the recent South Africa tour. Heath has been included in both the T20 and Test squads, showcasing her return to full fitness.

Joining her in the Ashes squad are three newcomers: Freya Kemp, Linsey Smith, and Ryanna MacDonald-Gay. Kemp and Smith have been selected for the T20 squad, while Heath and MacDonald-Gay continue to rise through the ranks, following their recent development contracts with the ECB.

MacDonald-Gay, who made her limited-overs debut earlier this year, impressed in the recent one-off Test against South Africa, picking up key wickets. Fast bowler Mahika Gaur will also travel with the squad as she continues her recovery from an injury that kept her out of the South Africa series.

England’s Ashes tour will begin with a warm-up match against Governor General's XI, followed by three ODIs, three T20Is, and concluding with the first-ever Day/Night Test at the MCG. In the 2023 Ashes, Australia won the Test match, but England claimed the white-ball leg to level the series.
