Soumya Sarkar Ruled Out of Final T20I Against West Indies Due to Finger Injury

Bangladesh's opening batter, Soumya Sarkar, has been ruled out of the third and final T20I against the West Indies due to a finger injury sustained during the second match of the series in St. Vincent. Sarkar injured his right index finger while attempting a catch in the seventh over of the West Indies innings and was unable to continue playing.

Despite his early exit, Bangladesh secured a 27-run victory, clinching the series with one game to spare after winning the opening match by seven runs.

Sarkar's injury is expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks, including a potential absence from the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which kicks off on December 30. The injury, which required five stitches, was further assessed with an X-ray revealing a subluxation in his right index finger. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Sarkar’s recovery is expected to take approximately three to four weeks.

"Soumya sustained a cut injury on his right index finger while fielding, which required five stitches. An X-ray was conducted after the match, revealing a subluxation in the affected area. His recovery may take about three to four weeks," said Bayjedul Islam Khan, Bangladesh’s national team physio.

Sarkar's absence will be a setback for both the national team and his BPL franchise as he looks to recover from this injury.
